Summer is upon us and it's time to enjoy the outdoors doing whatever it is that you love to do. Here are a few suggestions to keep you Safe while you enjoy your outdoor adventures

  • Slather sunscreen: Use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ (or higher). Reapply every 2 hours and after swimming/sweating.

  • Plan around the hottest hours: If you can, do your biggest outdoor activities earlier or later (often 10am–4pm is peak).

  • Bring water (and take breaks): Sip regularly, and cool down periodically—especially if you’re active.

  • Wear the right stuff: Light, breathable clothes + hat/sunglasses.

  • Heat safety watch: If someone gets dizzy, nauseous, confused, has severe headache, or stops sweating, get to shade/AC and get help if symptoms don’t improve quickly.

  • No car/pet hot-box rule: Never leave people or pets in parked vehicles.
